'PokéMalware': Every hour 8 new malicious Pokémon Go apps are released

Amina Zilic of Zemana Ltd., shares her news (lifted) from Zemana's Blog about how to to be safe from PokeMalware!

Following the Pokémon Go’s app launch in UK, every hour approximately eight new malicious clones of the app were released so within one day in total there were 215 fake unofficial clones of Pokémon Go app or also called 'PokéMalware' that were present across 21 different app stores - ITPRO reports.

Users have to stay aware about these malicious activities because if they install a fake version of Pokémon Go app on their device it can bring them harm and put their device on high danger.

What is rootkit and how to remove it for Free

Amina Zilic of Zemana Ltd., shares her news (lifted) from Zemana's Blog about the data theft leakage and how can we learn from it. In the future she will also update us from the Zemana Blog directly.

Rootkit is a program that hides itself deep into computer's operating system which allows external users to operate and control the computer's system from outside. While rootkit opens the door to areas which are forbidden to unauthorized users, it also has the ability to hide its presence, which makes them almost impossible to detect and remove.

The funny story about rootkits is that they have been around for more than twenty years, but in the beginning, they weren't malicious programs at all. They were rather used as a part of totally legitimate applications. Once cyber criminals discovered the interesting nature of rootkits, the term got a negative connotation. because of its association with malware it is now known as a very common tool for malicious attacks.

    What does Rootkit stand for?

"Root" stands for a UNIX/Linux term that's the equivalent of Administrator in Windows and “kit” refers to the software components.

    How does a Rootkit work?

Rootkit installation works in a way that the attacker installs a rootkit once they get the Administrator access which is only possible with a direct attack on a PC's system, which can be done by exploiting a known vulnerability or a password. Once the rootkit is installed, it will hide deep into the system and get full control of a system..

Zemana Blog News : Results show horrific lack of malware knowledge!

"What you don't know won't hurt you"
Perhaps you have heard this idiom/saying once or twice. In your personal life, yeah, maybe but in malware or any threat these days..hmm. Definitely a resounding "no"! It will hurt you if you are not careful!

Amina Zilic of Zemana Ltd., shares her news (lifted) from Zemana's Blog about what measures we should take to be prepared for any threat.

Results show horrific lack of malware knowledge!

Many of us have probably heard the word malware many times. And many of us believe we are educated enough not to fall victim to malware. However, recent studies showed that not only non-professionals but professionals as well are often not able to recognize the malicious tricks of latest threats.

    Disturbing results

Recent surveys showed that even though 93% of respondents correctly identified Trojan and its behaviour, 77% were unable to correctly state the behaviour of a virus. Many confused worms with viruses and rootkits with bootkits.
