Android one was a Google project to provide stock Android experience and faster updates to users. The Android One phones were initially launched by Micromax, Karbonn and Spice but they saw lukewarm response. A major factor was not great specifications at the price point and also unavailability at brick and mortar stores. This time Google is launching a 12,000 device which will be a mid-range handset in association with Lava. Lava mobility will be making the handset and it will be unveiled on July 14 so very soon. The device sadly will run a mediatek processor. Google is also investing a huge amount of money for the marketing and promotion of this phone. It will also be made available in offline stores, unlike its predecessors. Lava is definitely a trusted brand and has made good quality devices like the Xolo phones in association with Intel. Though they have been unable to ride the success wave as micromax has done, they still are a great competitor. They were the first Indian OEMs to give the 4.4 Kitkat update and also have provided Lollipop upgrades to their devices. I definitely think, this phone is going to create some ripples.
