It is very common for viruses to do so. They just put all your files in a shortcut and hide them. Also when you double click the shourtcut, the virus script gets a chance to exceute so avoid opening it for now.

Step1- Download Malwarebytes Anti-malware from here:-

Step2- Now after installing this software let it update itself. The update will be perfomed automatically.

Step3- Connect your hard-drive and then scan it, using this software. It should show the detected viruses. Just select all of them and select for deleting them. It may ask for a reboot, if it does allow it to.

Step4- Now open your drive and open the shortcut your files should be there. In case they are not there, just go to tools in the menu-bar at the top and find folder and search options in it.

Step5- In the folder and search options dialougue box select, show hidden files and folders, also tick show hidden operating system files.

Step6- Copy all the files into the desktop and then again go to the hard-drive, delete the shourtcut and the move all the files from the desktop and back into the hard-drive.

Step7- Last but not the least make sure you have suitable antvirus solutions installed, to prevent such mishaps.

Step8- Use a USB immunizer like Bitdefender USB immunizer.

At any step if you are unsure what to do wait and ask.

This is provided as is wihout any warranty or guarantee and try it at your own risk. This guide should work 99.999% of the times but the rest is fate. :)

RKill is a program that was developed at that attempts to terminate known malware processes so that your normal security software can then run and clean your computer of infections. When RKill runs it will kill malware processes and then removes incorrect executable associations and fixes policies that stop us from using certain tools. When finished it will display a log file that shows the processes that were terminated while the program was running.

As RKill only terminates a program's running process, and does not delete any files, after running it you should not reboot your computer as any malware processes that are configured to start automatically will just be started again. Instead, after running RKill you should immediately scan your computer using some sort of anti-malware or anti-virus program so that the infections can be properly removed.
