What is SteamOS however, Valve writes that:
"openness" means that the hardware industry can iterate in the living
room at a much faster pace than they’ve been able to. Content creators
can connect directly to their customers. Users can alter or replace any
part of the software or hardware they want. Gamers are empowered to join
in the creation of the games they love."

This will be tough competitor for Windows OS in near future and who knows when other game developing company shift's on linux as well.

Thanks for posting mate. Its a good thing that steam decided to base it on Debian rather than Ubuntu. Very soon we may see a powerful gaming and all purpose linux distro. Waiting for steam powered tablets and laptops.

Should be stable even now thanks to a debain base but they need to work on the steam for TV UI. Gonna be at least a year I suppose.

Hope so mate. Apple is an idiot, if they release Mac for all PC's then Windows will have some stiff competition.
For Linux to get better we do need lot more of profitable software development and a commercial environment.
